Aquarium Systems protein skimmer question...

I posted this on another forum and haven't gotten any replies.. so here goes...

When i picked up the last batch of live rock, the woman gave me an Aquarium Systems protein skimmer (HOT).. yeah.. I know..I've heard that they are pretty much worthless... is there anything I can do to it to boost it's efficency? Or should I just turn it into a paperweight?

I have no experience with this protein skimmer but I would say that if many people say its worthless.....my vote is paper weight.

Is it a seaclone? Or wait, I think they're made by marineland...

You can put it on the tank and see if it pulls anything out... :?
