I have two actuated ball valves I need to set up.
To wire this the way I want I need timers that can be wired in, and have a short, few second "on" every X number of minutes. Anyone know what I should look for?
why not use a wave maker type device. just plug the unit in and forget about it. there are a few companyies that allow for very minute adjustment. i will try and dig up the names. here is one from aquamedic....
I can't use a wave maker as the on off is too random. I need to be able to control it so that the the timer contolling the opening of the valve fires, then X amount of time the closed one fires. And this needs to cycle back and forth.
They are called by various names. One such is the intervalmeter. There are many choices, just not popular among the reef hobby that get the LFS to sell them yet.

Check ebay, for example, or industrial supply, or even photographic equipement. Some DIY it out of the good old IC555 chip, which is pretty easy to do and available in local Radio Shack store, if I remember (did this back when I was a teenager).
