Hi,
I'm planning to reduce the evaporation in my sump by using a lid to cover my fudge & return sections. Is it ok to do it? Also, I grow macroalgae in my fudge and have a CP light chamber.

sure you can do it.
i keep my display and sump/refugium topless mainly because i have some heat issues, and i basically use my room air conditioner as my chiller :P
i run a fan across each one to eliminate some heat.
besides that, i don't think it will effect anything else. it's not like the lids are air-tight.

You may find that evaporation isn't necessarily a bad thing. As water evaporates, it cools, and with all the mega-watt lights and high powered pumps we like to put on our tanks, some extra cooling is usually a good thing. Of course, if you don't have any heat issues, I'd say go for it. Also keep an eye on your PH, since you'll also be reducing the water's gas exchange ability. If CO2 starts to build up, your PH will drop. If that happens, try uncovering the sump.

thanks for all your response,
I cut the acrylic sheet and cover the fudge and return chambers, it works greatly. I don't have any heat issue, because my sump is external (not under the stand), and I run the room AC as well.
