Idea for a sump/fuge - looking for opinions.



I was thinking about a setup that looks something like what is shown below. I am not ready for a sump or new tank yet but I want to get my ideas all figured out for the day I do decide to get a large tank. Let me know what you think along with your opinions.

It looks like you have a good design in mind but you need to think about what exactly you are going to keep in the sump. With this in mind you might want to consider splitting the line from the tank so most goes in the side with the skimmer and some goes into the sump. This way you are also not losing flow from the pump. Just a few suggestions.

skip the extra fuge section. Put your return pump over there and make the center area where you grow macro

agreed with what bingo said... my main reason would be because it should help get the microbubbles out of the return....

ok time to start plumbing. Should I use pvc or flexible tubing? how many ball valves and where ?
