Hi,

Does anyone have any design/plans (or links to) for a vacuum end for a bare bottom tank?

Right now I'm using a python water changer with that big gravel hydro cleaning end replaced with a piece of flex pex (slightly smaller than the vinyl tubing).

It works ok, but I was thinking that if I zip tied a bundle of nylon mesh or some sort of filter sponge to the end, I'd get a little wider cleaning path. Also, I'm thinking about how to get an elbow or angle on the end, to reach under the edges of my egg crate shelf (for the rock).

Thanks.

kaskiles,

I use a piece of 3/4" rigid air lift tubing as a wand with a short pigtail of flexible tubing on the end to be able to poke in between and under objects in the tank. If you size it right, the flex tubing from the python will slide tightly inside the rigid or vice-vera.

Hope this helps.
