Anyone try placing a koralia inside a skimmer and using it to produce bubbles by adding an airline where it can suck in air.
I notice in my reef when a corallia sucks in airit produces a tremendous amount of tiny bubbles . I figure they would be great inside a skimmer.

Most of skimmer use Maxijet/Rio, and other type of venturi setup to generate air bubbles. I am sure koralia will be a reasonable alternative.

The reason you don't is because you don't want that much turbulence in your skimmer, which both koralia/MJMods will make. Secondly, you want more air input than water, and much finer bubbles. Both powerheads are meant to push water, and large amounts of it. I also don't think that either one will be able to pull any air.

They pull lots of air when near the surface so a empty tube at the top of the koralia would pull in air.
It could also be used as a recirculaing pump as they are quite popular with skimmers these days.

With these, the easiest thing to do is to just go ahead and made one with the powerheads, and compare. I suggest you don't put the PH inside the skimmer, but outside, since the shape of the PH will create a lot of turbulence if you have a lot of current flowing around it.

Compare it with Rio/Maxijet and see which one is better. Venturi is tricky thing to get it just right, so YMMV.
