Hi - So I was looking to make a sump with a 10 gallon tank, and was making plans to buy the silicone, etc, and I saw this video on you tube.

It seems that he made baffles without having to glue anything - using EDPM weather stripping? Is this stable? Is this something you recommend?

I'm just looking to set up something simple... chamber for protein skimmer and return pump.

It seems like a great concept but still why not just do it right the first time
and be done with it? if you're even thinking fuge the first time you move a
panel you're going to have a mess and the only way to fix that mess is to pull out
the whole sump get rid of the sand and start all over again..yes that includes
pulling out the skimmer to clean it and bumping into said panel..if you use silicone
you have no worries..or at least less worries lol

To be honest, I actually thought it was easier to use the weatherproof than using the silicone... lol.

I'm a big DIY'r, the first opportunity I can get to get my hands on Marine/Outdoor EPDM foam rubber weather stripping I'd be glad to test it out and see what kind of results I get. Nice part of it is you can use acrylic in a glass tank. Ok granted if when you add live sand to a refugium and change your mind that you may not like the setup it will get messy but you do have the option to change it easier than siliconed glass partitions. I'm not going to knock till I test and try for the results.
