Instead of getting a hold of a glass cutting machine, I was wondering if anyone has ever had any experience cutting large sheets with a standard bell cutter. Or am I SOL? lol
what size are you planninf to cut I have cut 3/8 inch glass on my kitchen table with no issues let me know what your planning and I can help you I think
it's fine, if you have a large flat work surface to work on.
the biggest problem with cutting a 4' piece with a standard cutter, is keeping pressure the same across the length of the cut. You almost have to crawl along the glass and cut as you crawl. Even then, there's a bit of stopping and starting. that's where you run into problems.
Me, I'd just call a local glass shop and ask them to cut the big pieces down for you. Then take the smaller pieces home and cut what you need.
Good question about it being tempered or not.
I guess its not tempered glass, I picked it up from a friend who originally hired someone to cut those pieces for his store. They are left over pieces.
bad coffee, you def hit the target when you said the difficulty in applying even pressure throughout. I tried it on a slightly smaller panel with no success.
It probably is too much of a hassle cutting large pieces.
I'll call up some local glass shops to see a quote on cutting them to a manageable size.
