As the title stated. I am seeking one who have experience recharging a R134A chiller. I know this is not a good DIY, but i have no choice. I did some bad plumbing and it kills to take the chiller offline. The chiller is fully accessable for rechargin and it's in my kitchen. If you have the skill please let me know. I'm in Old Bridge, NJ. I can pay for the service or corals/frags.

its not the same as charging a auto ac first you have to make sure its low on freon ,and if it islow or no freon in the system you have to find the leak and repair it ,a auto ac is normal to loose some freon over time because of the o-ring seals, you dont use a tire gauge on a chiller ,you have to be carefull not to over charge it ,you will damage the compresser, repairing a ac is not a DIY project,if you dont know what your doing you will damage the ac or yourself trying to charge the unit

most cars don't use freon anymore. They use the R134A container which is not freon.
And obviously you don't use a tire gauge. They make a special gauge which you can connect to see the pressure. Those gauges cost like $15, and some of the R134A containers come with a gauge

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freon said:
In the 1990s, most uses of Freon were phased out due to the negative effects that chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons have on the Earth's ozone layer.
And I have recharged my car's a/c with R134A myself before, and I'm no mechanic...

and ming not to be funny, but it's alot more to it than going to walmart and buying the kit and doing it, you need to check how much is there's and the guage's that come's wit hthe kit are not accurate. our dealership syphon's the old refrigerant down and refill's. on top not that you would get caught but it is illegal to release into the atmosphere, they switched to the r134 because of some of the chemical's plus r134 is cheaper then the 12, most people with old car's do the conversion to switch over, which is really only switching out the pressure and release side valve's. they screw on top of old one's drain old coolant down and replace

Ill also toss in that when you top off your car odds are its not properly charged to the manufacturers specs. When a mechanic draws down the freon he draws it down so far as to create a vacuum. After the vacuum is maintaned for a period of time your old freon plus whatever new freon you need is added back into the system along with compressor oil if needed. Im not saying your not making your car blow cold but rather the system is most likely underchanrged or overcharged slightly. Every car has a predetermined weight that it needs for a proper charge.
as for the chiller i woudl highly suggest having someone come in and do it for you. If it isnt properly done you will be replacing it..........
