Reef safe plastic?

I'm gluing a set of moon lights to the underside of my tank's brace. I would like to angle the light. Can I use like a plastic knife as a wedge? I assume disposable cutlery is reef safe, right?

Unfortunately it is not. Especially since it is going to be near heat, it will let off noxious fumes, both to humans and fish.

I have a block of white nylon from the machine shop I work at. Is that any better?

I need a 1"X3" wedge with a 10 degree angle or so on it.

Nylon is much better, if you could find a piece of acetal at your shop that would be even better. Or perhaps Polyethylene or Acrylic.

Probably an inch above, but I'm sure it will be getting wet.

Perfect!

Even if it gets wet, the nylon will only swell, not release any toxins.
