sump baffle question

guys, i got a cracked 10 gal tank. can i use the scrap glass for baffles for a sump? what i want to know is if the thickness of the glass from a 10gal tank would support the pressure of the flowing water? if not then how thick of a glass should i get? thanks

it's goin in a 12" wide tank. so it will be 8"tall and 11 3/4" wide. i'll need 1/8" room on each side for silicone. would it hold?

it should work, it's just cutting the scrap pieces to fit the sump.

yea as long as there is a 1/4 inch on both side for silicone youll be fine. dont be stingy on the silicone eitha. u dont want a baffle comming off when ur tank is running smooth. lolz

what do u mean cut it properly (House) if put in on an angle and then straighten it out when its in the tank.

i can just measure it, cut it and silicone it in. i don't know what you mean "cut it properly" either. House, can you elaborate?

what will you cut it with??i know most use glass cutters, but i've had no luck with those (maybe cuz i was trying to cut .25" thick glass).

i doubt you can cut it with a simple hand cutter for 1/4" glass. I think they use a tile/glass cutter with oil on it.

the glass will be cut at a shop. im not doing that myself. too much of a hassle. guys, what size pvc return should i use. i have a RR tank. making the durso pipe. i know the drain should be 1.25" with the 1" bulkhead. return is a 3/4" bulkhead. should i go with 1" pvc piping all around?
