so last year i was thinking of getting an ato which im still planning on getting since i got the reefkeeper lite but i wanted a way to keep my water level at a constant level.so i got a 2 gallon container and a 1/8th diameter hose with a shut off valve at the end which i siliconed on so it wont pop off.i poked a hole at the top off the cap which twisted onto container put the hose through and siliconed the hole to keep it from popping out.next i put a small hole at the top of cap so the water will flow through the hose without collapsing the container.i syphoned the water and adjusted the flow so it drips 2 drops every 5 sec or so.and it works perfect to keep my level on point all day.sure you have to fill up the container everyother day but im happy with it.and unless i forget to fill it up which i do on occasion i dont need to syphon again cause there is usually water still in the hose.just thought id share

been doing it for a year man.everything is perfect.i estimated my total water lose and 1 gallon a day is usually the least in a day.so it lets out 1 gallon a day.the most was 1 1/2 gallons per day.

Yeah thats what I just found out. Every degree makes a difference in the evaporation. I've been lately keeping a digital thermometer in my room, just to see my room temps day to day. The temps are around 73-77 degrees Fahrenheit...also, my friend recommended that I use an aquarium calculator. Just go to google and type in aquarium calculator and enter all of your tank info...Its a great tool to keep track of ato.
