LED Light Diffusing?

I read on another forum that guys are putting various light diffusers under their LEDs. This supposedly spreads the LED light more evenly, elimination shadows. Just curious if anyone has tried this here.

I think I was talking to Ritchie on staten island about this.
I have a few on my leds plus 80 degree optics
Thinking it will lessen the output of the lamp ??

Yea definitely will decrease output but few guys I know run them 100%. I want to see this done in person but I can't with my darn Metal halide
