Apex camera?

Anyone know what camera can be purchased at best but to hook to the apex? Also does it need a different module?

I've used a TrendNet and 2 different D-Link cameras. Both worked well with the classic Apex dashboard. I upgraded to the D-Link 5020L to get Pan/Tilt and night mode. It also works well with the new Fusion dashboard.
The Neptune systems forum has a lot of information and feedback on compatible cameras.

i picked up a foscam over the summer, its pretty good but i only have it a foot away. My plan was to use it at about 5-6 feet in front of the tank but it wasn't clear enough. I set up a few of these up for people and the customer service was always really good they will actually remote into your pc and set up the port forwarding. They also got a app which i actually use over the apex when i want to look at my tank stream.

Going in a bit to check out cameras. Just need to know if it has to be hooked up to a PC or a router. I won't get it if it has to be hooked up to my pc

Most of them have to be hooked up to a router. Basically the same way the apex is set up, to view it outside of your network you need to setup port forwarding

Got an old Android phone? Try this before plunking down cash for a new camera. It may not have PTZ functionality though.

Hopefully an iOS version exists.. I have an old iPhone but not an Android. This camera idea is great.. I recently went out of town for 3 days and wished I had some sort of camera to view the tank with.

This is what I've found for iOS so far, but not sure if it'll integrate with the Apex well. However, at the very least, you'll be able to view your tank from anywhere.

You can use the iPhone as your camera, and an Android/iPhone as the viewer.

Thanks for sharing this information. The first app posted in the Neptune Systems post didn't work for me. However the second app posted by kwirky88, "IP WebCam" worked perfectly and it offered a lot of options compared to the "IP Cam" app which seems to have very limited options.

Using IP Webcam, I was able to setup an old Samsung Galaxy SII. I can also access it from the mobile viewing app, "IP CAM Viewer Pro". Now I can view streams from my D-Link and TrendNet cameras and the GS II.

I had to add "video" at the end of the URL in Fusion in order to stream from the IP Webcam app.
Eg.
http://x.x.x.x:port#/video
