Skimz Sm203. The same one that I'm running on my system. This is DC controllable which I find to be extremely useful when feeding certain foods and replacing filter socks (makes my skimmer go crazy). It's nice to just back off a speed or two and return to original setting later on.

Oh, and I empty the skimmer cup every 5/6 days. Skimmate is nice and dark, that could also because I feed a lot. And like Rich mention. The DC pump is awsome. My skimmer don't really go crazy except after water change and use excessive crazy glue causing overflow.

The sro3000 is a great skimmer. It pulls out some nasty skim mate but if very sensitive. Sometimes it will just start over flowing for no reason. The dc pump Looks cool but the feature of lower it with the controller wouldn't work for me unless I want to go downstairs every time I feed to adjust it.

Couldn't you extend the wires and place the controller for the skimmer by the tank? :help:

I also recommend the RLSS skimmers. I couldn't be happier with mine.

Tony if you find a way to extend the controller from the basement into the stand let us know...
