ro/di not working properly

I was given a coralife ro/di 50gpd, which needed all the filters and membrane replace. I replace the filters and upgraded the membrance (dow filmtec) to 75gpd and the flow resistor according.

now my problem is when i turn on the water the ro/di works properly for 2-3 mins and then i hear sort of a poping sound from the membrane housing and instead of the water coming out of the tubing line in a steady drip it, it pretty much shoots out. I open the membrane housing and the membrane was loose. I first thought that i didn't push the membrane all the way in for the 2 o-ring on the membrane to fit securely on the membrane housing. I reconnected everything and tried again. I turned on the water and after 3-5 mins I heard the same poping sound from the membrane housing and the water starts rushing out again.
I was told that the membrane comes in standard size and that it would work for my ro/di, but it doesn't seem like the case with me.
has anyone ever heard or come across this problem that can offer me some advice or should i cut my losses and buy a new ro/di?

Not sure about your situation, but you can easily buy a new membrane housing to match your new membrane.

Just to make sure... Are you sure the tubing is hooked up correctly. If you have reversed the drain and inlet lines this could occcur.

I also had this problem with my setup and my pressure coming in was over 105 psi, did you check that.

A while back, my Spectrapure RO/DI was not working properly. I called tech support and they were happy to help. I told them, I had changed all membranes, etc.

I just sent it back for repair and bingo I was in business.

I just felt, there was something wrong, because I had unit for several years and knew something was wrong.

Glad I did it. 1 week later, back up.

Obviously, cheaper to try to fix it yourself. However, from what I understand, your vendor should be able to repair it easily, if there is a problem that you are not sure about.

So try the advice on this forum and if you don't get a solution, try the vendor route. Should still save you money, rather than buy a new unit.

What color if the flow restrictor is it blue ?. Blue is for 75 gpd membrains.
Did you check the membrain there might be somthing clogging it.

Hmm. Shouldn't be any popping sound, and the membrane shouldn't be loose. Sounds like you were careful and had the membrane fully seated - without any other information my guess is that you have a crack inside the RO membrane housing in the cup into which the RO membrane seats. You can replace that RO membrane housing quick, cheap, and easy.
