New reef octopus skimmer

My new super reef octopus XP-5000 came today! Thank you Jim and Russ!
can you say plug and play??? well packed had it assembled in less than 5 mins up and running with in 10mins
still dialing it in it's dead quiet( I didnt realize how loud my ASM was!)
thick dense foam!
will update as needed. Presently my ORP is 350Mv, curious to see if it changes with new skimmer

Holy crap, that's amazing. I didn't even see it 'delivered' in Fedex and it's already pulling 'mate. Fits the sump great too.

last night power went out when my generator kicked on the skimmer went nuts overflowing after playing a bit I got it dialed in.
while I was playing I lifted it up out of the sump and realized I had more adjustment if it wasnt in so deep so I made a 2" platform for it to sit on last night.
if you had to ask me now I would say it operates best in 8" of water much easier to adjust the level and now the whole skimmer is full with thick foam
I'll post some pictures later on

I know everyone has their own opinion about skimmer I was a tried and true ASM guy but this skimmer blows it away!
I put an ammeter on the pump and it's pulling .43 amps which is about 55W
that's awesome for a skimmer that can handle 500 gals of water
I had a dual beckett MTC that was an absolute pig power wise

Question, if you raise the skimmer up to decrease the height of water it is in, does that make the make more bubbles?

yes and denser too gives me room for adjustment
from what I have read this skimmer works best in about 8" of water
so far so good

I'm building another sump for this system been planning a new one for sometime that will make my plumbing simplier and everyday maintenance easier

looks awesome. what type of pump is on that? my SWC cone took almost a week to settle down giving the efficiency of these skimmers you can expect them to overflow a bit for a few days till they catch up with your tank's organics. congrats on the skimmer

your going to love that skimmer i have been running the 5000 external and love it it blew my euro reef by far with that big of a skimmer you can feed your fish heavily
