Does anyone here have some insight on this species. I've dealt with other species alongside my cousin's tank when I was younger and had my own zebra lionfish up until a little under a month ago due to some unknown reason that wiped out my tank leaving all but 2 fish and some crustaceans. Over time I have read up on them and thought I had a good jist on them and their behavior. Last week I went on Live Aquaria randomly in the morning just to browse/window shop. You know, just to burn some time before work and get my rocks off
haha. I went into the lionfish section and I've always hoped to see a Fu Manchu pop up and I didn't expect to see one pop up on my screen but low and behold there was one there. I jumped the gun and ordered him. He's in a QT tank and he's the weirdest thing imaginable. I never owned a fish with so much personality since my algae blenny and my dogface puffer. Now to get back on topic, are these guys known for changing their color drastically and instantly? I know that most if not all fish turn kinda pale once the lights are off but I assumed since they're nocturnal they maintain coloration. There are times of the night that he turns so pale that I think he's doing the swan song and the end is near but then literally a few moments later, he gets coloration back presumably from seeing me and being annoyed. I know its only been less than a week since I've acquired him but the little guy seems to be adjusting well. I will try to get a picture up of him once I figure out how to. Thanks again. -Alex
