Hello,
I just purchased a baby Black Volitan Lionfish, and he seems to be in good health but a couple of his beautiful fins look like their missing the tips! One was broken and partially hanging off when I first put him in the tank, that piece fell off sometime during the night last night but there are others that just look too short. One of my co-workers, who is also a saltwater fanatic, told me they won't grow back and that they'll be stunted forever!
This depresses me, and I would like to know if it's true or not?
Please help!

No, I haven't seen that to be true. There are some who might trim the broken rays off, but there is a big risk in getting stung so I personally don't recommend that to most folks. Watch for infection, though. Fish lose fin rays and they regrow all the time. ;)

Yeah I've seen lions grow dorsal spines back on more than one occassion...one time after breaking one off in my hand...no worries.
