Definitely one of my best investments (thanks Russ)! It used to take around 3 hours to make 5 gallons of RODI water. Now I'm up to about 5 gallons an hour!! Also, a prefilter before the pump improved its performance.

I have a specrapure unit and I bought the booster pump. I keep my psi at 60 as it's recommended by them, but they also mention that the water should be in the 70's. My water is definitely colder then that. But booster pump is a must if your psi is lower then 40.

My rodi just fills a regular 4gallon bucket. Can I use a booster pump? Someone told me it needed to be filling a pressurized container. Is this true?

Yes you can definitely use a Booster Pump if your incoming water pressure is below about 40 psi. You'll just need to keep an eye on your 4 gallon bucket. It'll probably fill it in just about an hour (assuming you have a 100 gpd RODI).

The quality of your water might actually get better as well. What will happen is the increased pressure going through your membrane might improve the efficiency of the membrane itself.

Shoot me a PM if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the B-day wishes guys :)

Thanks Russ. I have like 35psi now and fill the bucket in an hour or a little more. I have the 150gpd Air water and ice Typhoon. Do you think the booster pump will help? Happy Birthday BTW

35 psi is definitely low. Your output should increase considerably with the use of a Booster Pump.

50 psi is borderline, but on the low side. What is your RODI rated for? How much permeate (good/product water) are you getting? If you're getting the amount your system is rated for you'll probably be ok without the Booster Pump. If you're yielding less than the stated output then you'll likely benefit from the Booster Pump.

Yes, but...

there are two types of pumps. The permeate pumps use the discard water to pump the RODI into the pressurized container. This would not help you.

The electricity-powered booster pumps will work no matter what you are putting the water into.
