Good morning guys,

I use this system and noticed that my ppm readings spiked to 38 and notice I had hair algae growing in my display tank. So I changed the sediment and other filter. As it only has two chambers. But when I pressed my in indicator it reads 036 ppm. What should it be? Any advice?

Has this unit ever read 0 ppm? Ideally that is the number you are looking for.

Do you have a hand held TDS meter to check the number with? ..a local reefer nearby who might have one?

After doing some reading it seems this unit is more designed for hydroponics than reef tanks where a zero ppm is the goal. The fact that it only uses 2 chambers, rather than the 4 or 5 that most reef RO/DI systems have, would be a concern.

Did you purchase this unit new? If not, the membrane may need replacing (no idea how long they last in a unit of this type), but i would venture a guess that with only 2 chambers prior to the membrane, that the membrane would burn out faster due to the quality of the water (still 'dirty') that it is trying to process.
I would also be concerned that after changing the membrane you still might not have zero TDS water as it doesn't promise that in its advertising :(

You might want to consider adding a DI Resin cartridge to your unit so you can get the TDS reading down to zero. A reading of 36 or 38 is WAY too high.

I got the unit in feb. and yrs I think I seen it at like 05-06. But it's at 36 so I changed the two filters. And when I pressed the in flow indicator it's reading 35. Lol like the filters changed only did .01 to the rpm. I wonder if I have to change more

Are you sure you are looking the right thing?

when I pressed the in flow indicator it's reading 35

Are you reading the TDS of the water going in or out? (just want to be sure we are all on the same page:))

That's gross lol I thought NYC water was suppose to be good lol. But yea my ppm readings are still at 37. I'm sure it should be lower like 7 or so no?

37 ppm is actually pretty darn good for drinking water. many "bottled" drinking water has a higher reading than that (60-80 ppm).
my jersey well water is 240-260 ppm at the faucet, i'm getting about 4-5 ppm after the membrane and 0 after the di.
if you're using the 98% rejection rate membrane, you should get only 2% reading of the pre-membrane reading. in my case 2% of 240-260 ~5.....my membrane is working like it should.
