Looking for some review and personal experience with this particular protein skimmer. I am interested and it looks good as far as h.o.b. skimmers go.

I had one for 8 years. Performed flawless. Skims like a little monster. Cup is small though.

i had the back pack 2 the one with the bio bail great skimmer that thing had my nano growing stuff like crazy def a good skimmer

yeah +1 would recommend. the only thing is cup size so you have to clean it out often

thank you to everyone for the advice... i just dont like the size of the intake pump...its huge, and i have a small tank.

You can put different pumps on it..it doesn't have to be the stock pump

There is a needle wheel power head out there made for this skimmer as an upgrade, I forget the brand but it does perform much better then the stock pump or even over the MJ1200 pump upgrade.
I always thought these skimmers were mediocre and let out a lot of micro bubbles into the tank IMO. If I needed another HOB small skimmer, I would look into the brands that utlize an overflow box and has the skimmer pump outside of the tank.
