Has anyone purchased and used this light???

I just ordered 2 of them for my new setup and wanted to know how we'll they run. I did some research and spoke to the guy at the store and he said that corals will do great under these lights.

Anyone have any first hand experience with them?

Is this the old E-lite or the new one that is full spectrum with the interchangeable LED strips?

The new one is nice, compares to the radion or the vega, only thing is its priced at 800+ for the light itself which is a little high for the unit, and as far as what your getting, Radion is a better fixture for the same price. The fixture + controller come out to over $1000 for one light. You can get 2 Vega;s with a controller for that price, or 4 AI SOl's. IMO, the fixture should have been priced around 300$ for what your getting vs whats out and available. Getting a VEGA you can save yourself about 900$ in comparison and your corals will be just as happy and successful, have the same spectrum of color, and have a bunch of extra toys with the controller options.

The unit is fully upgradable for anything extra but it has no wireless access like the Vega's and the controller is pretty basic without any of the dings and whistles like AI or radion has. If your putting one of these over one of the elos tanks to keep the sleek look it would be worth the money because you can't get the same look/feel from any other light like the hood on the midi or the sleek mounting bracket on the mini. If your hanging these from the ceiling over the tank or keeping them in your hood I would think about the AI fixtures or maybe a Radion.

Also, Elos is known for long waits to get parts if Jesse or Elos Aquastudio don't have them. If anything breaks expect at least a week to get parts.

The unit also pulls air in through the LED's itself to cool instead of a heatsink like AI does. Its an issue with evaporation and moisture in hoods. Radion has this same issue. AI was the only smart company to vent heat through heatsinks.

Hope that helps. I was contemplating getting this same light when getting my mini. I went AI Vega instead and aside from the mounting on my mini I don't regret that decision.

Yah that helps a lot. Thanks

I already purchased the lights and I am getting a whole 120xl Elos system so I got a deal on everything together. I'm going to keep an eye one the moisture buildup tho.

Thanks again

Sorry to tell u but those lights are a rip off you can buy all the light strips it can hold and still won't hold up to a Radion the owner Ralph talks a good game but even he has Radion in his tanks at home .... Those light are really over price and on top of that only comes with a few stupa then u have to buy more after that u need the controller more $$ lol wouldn't buy them if they were $300

is two enough for the 120? And the 120 is amazing. Grats on the purchase man, its a sweet tank. And if your hanging them over the tank then you don't need to worry about the moisture not being in a hood.

The main difference between the AI Vega, Radion and the elos Elite 3 is the white LED's it uses. The Elite has the same LED count as the Vega but the Vega uses XM-L LED's that give a lot more punch out of the white over the XP-G LED's that the elos uses. Radion's whites are an in between but they throw in 2x as many whites. Thats the main difference out of the fixtures aside from price. And if you want more white you can always get 2-3 extra white only chips or white/blue from elos. Its not that big of a deal if you got the fixtures and are happy with the purchase.

I apologize for not getting around to read this thread. But in response to the reef a holic's comment on Elos lighting, elite 3 long in particular, it would be a real disservice to my customers if I truly did not believe the product I represent and sell was not the best available. We are an Ecotech dealer and carry their full product line so either I must really be a good salesman that in six months we have sold one Ecotech Radion compared to dozens of elite 3's. Yes, do we recommend our product first and foremost absolutely, but if you are paying a premium for a new aquarium ultimately it's the quality that sells the product, not to mention that we have sold more elite 3's fixtures to customers that have existing non Elos aquariums.
As for reef a Holic's assertion that I use Radion's on my home setup whoever he/she is must know something I don't since the only aquarium lighting I personally own are Elos E-lites so who's the one trying to talk a good game.
We at Elos do not distinguish ourselves by putting the competition down or making things up but by letting our products speak for themselves. Is there a premium to pay, perhaps, but I rather pay a little more and be totally happy than pay less and just be content.
We welcome any and all reef hobbiest to visit our store and demo our products in person and judge us by what they see and not what they read.
Sorry for the long rant but if I am not passionate about reefing or Elos then it's time for a career change.

1st off I'm going by what I was told buy the owner of the Elos studio in NJ if that's you then earthier you weren't being truthful or you got memory loss ...

But let's see of what the owner of the light thinks ... He had the lights sins oct .....

And FYI if you put out the radions out so people can see them instead of under the counter you would sell more of them .... IMO I think radiond should be display on one of your tanks just like you displace yours .... Or at least out on the display rack like you have the MP
