My clam seems to be splitting at bottom

Guys and ladies does anyone know if this is normal. My clam seems to have a split in middle of shell. Picture attached.

Are you talking about the meaty part in the clam ?if so they are the incurrent and excurrent siphons of the clam perfectly normal..

Don't want the same thing to happened to your buddy. But I had a clam for 7 months doing good then one day that opening got larger than usual and the next morning found my clean up crew having a nice meal. I read that clams die quickly and nothing u can really do. Hope it's ok.

Hey clams do not die quickly if properly kept...

You r right they don't. What I meant is they don't give to much warning they look good and with in a day or 2 they r gone and if u have a clean up crew they will eat them up if its not healthy. Once they show signs things r not well its usually to late. I have another clam doing good 2 years.
