As I still wait for my new sump from Custom King, I would love to see some of your refugiums. What macros are you currently growing and what light are you using to grow them?
All of them look great! How do you keep your chaeto to stay in place and not get pulled into the return? How deep are your sand beds? How often do you have to spray the tips(leaves) of mangroves with fresh water?
You're refugium should have slow enough flow that your chaeto should stay in place on its own. If running a sump/fuge combo there will be a bubble trap between it and your return pump.
He made me on to duplicate my ai sol blues three LEDs .wt,blue, and royal blue they are real nice and bright.got two from him i also got a white bulb from him.I think it a par 16 bulb .was $27 I think .He also has all connections and plugs .has everything to get u started :tank:
Chaeto actually likes a lot of flow and will show faster growth in those conditions. It will still grow well in a slow flow fuge but it tends to get clumpy and matted in those conditions.
I've run both LEDs as well as CFL's over my fuge. The best growth came under a 5500-6500K bulb. With the par38 bulb I had the growth slowed and all my macro took a turn for the worse. Swapped it back to the 5500K CFL and within a week it started to turn around. Macro is a plant and as such will show its greatest growth under low (5500-6500K) bulbs.
