Kole Tang Question

Does anyone know if a juvenile kole tang does not have a yellow eye if so how long before the yellow forms around the eye??

Or does anyone know of a tang that looks like a kole tang with out the yellow eye? this fish is small about 3'' tats why I think it is a juvenile but when I google juvenile kole they all look larger than mine and have yellow.

Just got it last night waiting for the light to come on to get a better look at the skin colors the marking are like a kole dots on the face area and lines.

There are many Tangs is that family, Ctenochaetus strigosus, which are very similar in coloration to the Kole Tang. If it was a Kole Tang at that size it would already have the yellow around the eye.

With my lights on the body looks slate blue light yellow ish lines on its body and dots on its face with a white tail, I would think white tail tang but the body is diffrent than the ones I see on line!

Like I said, there are many different variations in the family of Ctenochaetus tangs. Do a search and look at some of the pictures that come up.

Charlie some kole tangs have the yellow eye and some don't . The yellow eye kole tang (common name) has it and the others do not. Like marrone said there are many different koles and perhaps yours is just a regular without the yellow eye.

Lenny I hope it is It is a nice healthy fish eats like a pig!!! still camera shy so I cant get a photo I like the fish Just dont want a big tang to out grow my 10g reef! lol I picked the kole because it only gets about 6".
