I have an Eheim 1260 hooked up to my sump. Whats the best way to disconnect my return pump for an hour or so that I can clean the return. Here's a picture:
I cant say for sure how you would do it with the way you currently have it setup , but i would reccomed that if you do disconnect it for cleaning you add some unions and ball valves to your plubing so that way you can stop flow and disconect it easily next time
Only way is to drain the sump or at least the return chamber. Then as said above. Replumb it with some valves and unions so you can do future maintenance easier.
if the bulk head is threaded on the inside of sump side, get a plastic pipe plug. thats what i use no ball valve.
or if you can lift the outlet of sump line higher than water level.
As edd said. Just plug the bulkhead inside the sump and them you can disconnect the tubing from the pump by loosening the screw connector so it releases the vinyl tubing where it attaches to the pump and catch what little water comes out with a rag. No need to drain the return chamber.
