Greetings.

I plan to upgrade to a 60 gal RR deep blue cube sometime in the summer. For those who have it, could one of you tell what is the maximum flow rate for the overflow that drain into the sump. And would you recommend getting a stand made by deep blue? Thanks.

cheers,

Max

Get a custom built stand. Deep blue stands are made of particle board. If wet, they will soak up water like a sponge. Also, they are closed on all sides. It becomes very humid in the stand. Finally, they are very short. I had to build a platform that raised the stand to comfortably view my tank. I used a mag 3 on my DB 30g (24x24x12") cube, I'm using a water blaster 3000 on my DB 80.

thanks Empire! Now that a deep blue stand is out, I am thinking of getting an R&J enterprise oak stand, but there seems to be so little useful info about it. Does any one have an experience with their oak stands?

I don't knownthe maximum flow but it should be able to handle anything you throw at it with in reason. How big is the hole? The 60 gallons is the sumo right? How big is the main tank?

Sharkbait,

I am not sure what are the sizes of the holes, that is one of the thing that I would like to know.

Could these corner overflow be standardized? So perhaps 1" dia drain and 3/4" drain line?

I heard the deepblue plumbing is junk, so I am thinking about replacing them with the aqueon overflow accessory kit here:

Thanks Edd and empire for your replies, I will keep you advices in mind.

The overflow is 3/4 return 1" drain, with a 600 GPH drain. Yes the plumbing is garbage. That is the bulkheads are junk. The pipe work is pipe work no worries on that. I would recommend you drill the air vent hole a little bigger so you avoid the faint whistle. Drill an air break in the 90* slip x threaded return right in the bend of the 90*. Get your self true loc line 3/4" instead of the knock off crap they give. Also the plumbing kit It comes with the tank, don't let the store fool you into thinking other wise. If your getting a deep blue tank it comes from royal pet supplies so it sent with the tank. You would do will well with a custom stand. The RJ enterprise will work but not easy. The web site don't give much info on the stands but a phone call will handle that. I will say a custom stand will do you a world of good vs a pre made or mass produced stand. In this hobby cookie cutter equipment hardly ever works for you, you have to make it work for the stand. IMO that's not good. You should check out the water blaster 3000 or the diablo 3500 dcs pump both will work fine with head pressure and a drain rate of around 600GPH +/- the dc is a controllable pump, if you need more flow for inline reactors or what ever you want you have the option. But stick to around those size pumps and you good.
And as empire stated the stand are pure sponge garbage I would trust a gold fish bowel on it let alone a couple hundred pounds and a person working underneath inside it.

Don't waste your money on the aquion return kit it's pvc pipe
With better bulkheads and the same Bs loc lines. Get your self 1 -1" slip x slip bulkhead and 1-3/4 slip x slip bulkhead and 1- 3/4 loc line 1 3/4 threaded loc line knuckle and a 3/4 return nozzle fan or straight bore dealers choice IMO on the return nozzle
