I have a pair of Ocellaris clownfish that have been acting strange lately. I have read some threads on breeding behavior and am wondering if they way be preparing for this. They are quite small however, and I would like to know how large these fish must be to attain adulthood and begin mating.

You might be seeing them starting to pair up. Dunno. You haven't indicated what kind of behavior they're displaying. If they are starting to hang out together more than normal and one is shimmying and shaking around the other then most likely they're pairing up.

If you're interested in breeding clowns, get Joyce Wilkerson's Clownfishes book. It'll walk you thru everything.

I had a breeding pair in my old FO tank; they shimmied etc. early on but did not spawn for a year or two, and the mama was pretty big by that time.

Ditto Shane's comment about "Clownfishes," it is one of the better fish books IMO.

I've had a pair for about 6 mo. but no breeding. I've read Joyce's book and it is great but definitely one fish is larger and in control but I'm just hoping the other isn't a female also because they sleep in separate areas and don't spend much time together. I did just change the current situation in my tank so I'll give it a few more months but I'm thinking of getting another juvenile. Any comments... (I'll post on the breeders section too)
