If by Scooter Blenny you mean Synchiropus stellatus aka this guy
00338.jpg
you should have left him at the LFS. They are in the same category as the Manderin's as they are speciallized eaters. Especially since your Psuedo has wiped out your 'pod population.

You can try to get him to take mysis or brine but good luck.

Do a search on 'Pod Piles'. You will find a lot of information needed to feed mandarins and other fish that eat pods.
Unfortunately it takes time for these pod piles to generate a population that will sustain fish like a scooter blenny. And should be done at least a MONTH before you get the fish.

If you have a friend that has a refugium you could let the guy stay in for a while until you get a good pod population again, it might live.

Otherwise this poor little guy is most likely doomed.

You may try sinking pellets as they sift through sediment to find food (pods.) Or you could buy 50 lbs of fresh live rock to save the fish.

I agree with the above posts. Usually, you can figure out what a fish eats by looking at its mouth. Scooter blennies and mandarins have the same type of mouth, very small, which is suited to eating tiny crustaceans (pods). They don't eat anything else and their specialized mouth wouldn't allow them to graze on algaes or anything else like that even if they wanted to. That's the reason you see so many skinny scooter blennies and mandarins in the stores, it's very difficult to keep a population of food for them unless they are kept in small numbers (1 or 2) in large systems.

I have one of those like the picture posted above by MickAv8r, it was sold as a scooter dragonette. He eats live brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms and even very small pieces of Talapia. The pod population in the tank has gone down a lot since this guy was introduced, they constantly search the rock for something to eat. Try the live brine shrimp, if he accepts it, then he'll be fine.

It is rare that Dragonets eat anything but tiny crustaceans in the live rock. Try to get him to a tank that is large enough, with plenty of LR and LS, well established with no food competitor. Good luck.

Actually no that is not correct. Live brine have almost zero nutrition unless you are enriching them with phytoplankton and possibly rotifers.

Even then, it's quite common for Dragonets that do manage to accept frozen brine or other foods to still starve to death because they are not getting the proper nutrition from these foods.

Well I have two scooters that seem to be doing fine. I have not had them for a long time yet so time will tell. I would recommend that you watch them eat before you buy them but it is kinda late for that. What I would do now is go buy some frozen brine and some frozen mysis shrimp and feed heavy. Make sure that your other fish leave some for the scooters and watch to see if they eat. If the eat the frozen then I think they will be fine. You need to start thinking about how you are going to produce pods though and fast. Pod piles or a refugium or something. I have pictures of mine eating right out of the turkey baster! You can get them to eat frozen food.

Good luck
Harrison
