Just got a nice rock with cabbage leathers on it. It also has some small clams, I think two stems of a cactus sponge and some red sponge glob growing between the leather. This also has a small hollow finger extending one way. Have read here and there that supplement feedings are nice for sponges. Anything special besides what I'm giving my fish(a variety of flakes, seaweed selects, and frozen foods), and supplements to the reef (calcium, strotium, iodine, and reef plus by seachem)?
Thanks

Various kinds of phytoplankton like DT's, ESV spray dried, and BSD's tahetian blend would make for one happy sponge.

I just feed my tank as usual, which is heavy. I had three seperate pieces of bright yellow sponge come up out of nowhere and grow into golf-ball sized pieces in about 3 months. No special foods, just flake w/ spirulina and brine shrimp. I also have an orange tree sponge that's not dead yet, so I guess it's doing okay.

I'll second MonkeyBoy's idea - BSD's tahitian blend is a combination of 4-5 different types of phytoplankton (what sponges eat), that gives a variety of sizes and nutrients, mimicing what's found in reef waters off the coast of Tahiti... can't get much better than that. The only problem with phyto supplements (especially the frozen concentrated one's), is that it is incredibly easy to overdose the stuff, and get an algae bloom.
