Hi:
NO......
Kent injector are single input (pitot) venturis....
the becketthead is a nozzle shaped spray head w/ 4 air intakes and a center ball.
The difference is that the kent venturi can w/ stand backpressure and injects a goodly amount of air, whereas the becketthead is a nonpressure tolerant head which injects a S*&tload of air. It requires lots of pump pressue to do this.
what are your plans?
my opinion

I was gonna build a hot diy beckett skimmer. Think a 3100 rio could power it or do i need a bigger rio?

Brad:
a rio3100 will not adequately power a beckett head. If you desing something like a bullet1 or a aerofoamer swirling design, your gonna need at least a MAG12. Beckett heads unlike traditional single input venturis require lots of pressure, so a whimpy 3100 will make big fat bubbles, not the tight small ones you need.

I'm interested if anyone's tried injecting a Beckett or downdraft with a mazzei venturi via a large pump. I've always wondered if this could enhance a downdraft's performance.

Leonard,

I think you might have it backwards??? Most ppl I know started out w/ downdraft skimmers, but then retrofitted them w/ becketts. I know Sanjay did that for one.

At the flow rates we are concerned w/ the beckett will entrain more air than a mazzei. Mazzei's are made for REALLY high flow apps, like pond aeration, etc. Becketts perform better at low flow, but like higher pressures, as frank mentioned above.

Cheers
James

ps, hopefully that first sentence doesn't look like a flame. It's not meant as one.

I probably didn't convey my thought very well. My idea was running a Beckett or downdraft with a Mazzei in tandem (not replacement). I don't think it'll work better, but always thought it would make for an interesting trial.

Who's this Sanjay fella anyways
