How to set up a sump with LR & LS ?????

OK got the filter going and took out the bio balls and want to put LS & LR into that area.
First the water comes in than into the skimmer and than into the LR & LS than pumped back out RIGHT?
I would figure you would treat the sump area like a mini reef RIGHT? with setting up that is.Never did this before am I thinking right?
The tank is a 150 gallon and the "filter" is a PL3000 from Amiracle with the skimmers in it.

That's How I did mine. Just make sure where the LS & LR is, the partition is tall enough to prevent strong current blowing sand bits out to your return pump. (A dead return pump is not pretty!
