hi it is my water that is green. I did nothing different when i did my last water change so i can't understand why my water is so green. Changing 50% of the tank water did not get rid of the green either. I am have been running about 1/2 a pound of activated carbon and phospate remover since yesterday with no improvements

An algae bloom can occur on a new set up or when major changes are made, such as adding live rock to the tank, etc. What are your params for amonia and nitritates/nitrites. Also post your SG, temp and lighting. What else is in the tank? How much Live Rock, live sand etc.

Increase your skimming if possible, and continue using the carbon. The bloom should evntually crash. Be patient.

Also if you are not using RO/DI water I would test your make-up water. This could very well be the cause.

Good Luck,

Steve

I would recommend using a diatom filter as it will solve your problem in matter of hours.
And also run carbon and some polyfilter

Above is a picture of one and description. Its the model I have works well IMO. Check around for the best price seen from 120 to 199 for the same unit.

My main use for the filter is for final cleaning of the water after I set up a new tank with a sand bed. Clears all the sand dust out in a matter
of hours.
