Does anyone have any experience with the Golden Dwarf Moray? I'd like to add one to my existing reef tank.
The pictures I've seen make show blunt teeth so I'm assuming the eat more crustaceans than fish.
I used to have 2 in Reef until I moved. I got mine from Marine Center. Very pretty, Gentle, and shy. I have peppermint and cleaner shrimps in the tank and was never harassed. In fact, I have never seen them eat. I do add live ghost shrimps into my tank on regular basis, I assume they venture out in the night and stalk on the ghost shrimps.
FFE used to sell "Golden Dwarf Moray" but end up not being the melatremus. G. Melatremus is the only moray that I know doesn't exceed 12" in length and is 90% reef safe (I would never make 100% reef safe statements).
PhoenixSun,
I have had one in my 55G FOWLR and Mushroom tank for about a year. Very cool eel. He has never bothered anyone and eats well. There max size of about 7-8 inches makes them the perfect eel for a reef or FO tank. I agree with danmhippo, never say never, but their small size makes the threat of a problem very small.
