I have a slight case of ich, I heard if you drop the SG it helps mine is at .023 what should I get it down to how fast do I get it down and how long can it stay there? thanks

Concerning the garlic, check out a recent thread I posted about garlic, it references and gives a link to an article about it. As far as your specific gravity, when I was keeping fish only tanks, I kept my SG at around 1.017. This lower salinity allows a higher oxygen content, and also is less desirable to parasites like ich, as they don't survive well in lower salinities. I kept mine there permanently without ever experiencing any problems. Don't do this with inverts, though, you should keep their SG at 1.0235 like sea water.

sg needs to be 1.009 for 4-6 weeks for crypto cure. Obviously this can't be done in a reef tank.

Learn something new everyday. I've been keeping mine at 1.0235 for years and years (well, at around that anyway) and have always been told that's what the reefs are at. I'm bringing my hydrometer next time I go somewhere cool.
