That depends - common names can be misleading. If you are talking Corypaena hippurus, which is also called dolphin here in FL., you are talking fish and a tasty one at that.
Dorado no, Mahi Mahi yes. The first time I heard it called Mahi Mahi was in Hawaii years ago on my honeymoon. A few years after that some resturants here started using the Mahi Mahi name. Around fishing circles its still refered to as dolphin. Confusion with Flipper has pushed the resturants in particular into searching for a new name - thus Mahi Mahi. Has a nice ring to it anyway.
You must feel terribly guilty for fishing such a beautiful fish! I was sickened by the photos. I think fishing is so immoral. Why can't you get yours at Red Lobster like the rest of us?
Geree,
Very nice, Although I practice catch and release 99% of the time I see nothing wrong with taking a few home for dinner for the family. I guess some of those tree huggers think catch and release is just as bad
I think it is Dorado when you go south. I go to resturants here and order dolphin. The servers say we don't have any and I chuckle and tell them that dolphin is mahi is dorado just different languages.
