I have a 50 gal reef tank w/ a breeding ocellaris clown pair and an orchid dottyback. I am considering buying 3-4 juvenile Banggai's but am concerned that once they mature they will start fighting. Does anyone have experience w/ several Banggai's in one tank?

Thanks.

Im nto possitive about the Bangii's but i had two pajama's and the larger one always kept the smaller one in the corner. I have a 90 gallon also so there was plenty of room. I have also witnessed a little hostility among them at the LFS i work at. I wouldnt try it.

Yes I had 2 in my 90gal, male and female. Female hounded and then killed the male( who was larger!). One of the species (I think) where you get many( ie 5-ish) so they have a school behaviour or just get one.

I suggest -Stick with one, they are nice fish with interesting 'patrol at night beahviour'.

PS female laid eggs about 2 months later, wasn't sure what was going on for a while - her tummy was distended and she was in distress. Don't panic if this happens to you too.

Hi:
i would strongly recommend against it.
If you had a 300gal w/ tons of live rock then maybe, but a 50gal no way.
Male banggais are very territorial and he alone would make sure the other suitors were banished into the corners of the tanks. The only way I could even envision 4 co-exisiting together would be you get 4 females and even then a dominant fish would pop-up.
Should 2 of these banggais pair up, then not only would the male kick some booty, but the female is extremely protective of the male carrying eggs and she would finish off the remaining animals.
These fish only school as juveniles(its protective) they do not tolerate each other as adults...don't get a school of these fish
Please no more than a pair in this size tank

2 is fine as long as you have a male and a female. I think if you introduce 2 young, one slightly larger, then they should/could form a pair. I have had my 2 for just about a year and have had the male carrying eggs 3 times. His last batch had 35 fry.
I think the problem comes in when you try to keep more than 2. @ eventually pair up and beet the snot out of the third, fourth fifth etc. I know I have seen 3 pj cardinals in a display tank for over a year, but I have never seen more than 2 adult BC's. Again I say this doesn't mean its not possible, but I also wouldn't recomend more than 2.
