Kitta, you should be fine with the Aquafx if you choose to go with them. Kent and Spectrapure are more expensive but they are also more established. Spectrapure has an incredible website that has almost any add on you would ever need. I suggest you also look Reef Pure Systems. I have a unit that is arriving tomorrow from him. There is also a coupon for 15% off I found for his systems. He may also have some other deals for you.
I have looked all around for a system and weighed all the options I can think of. Here is what I ended up with; 100gpd, 1 micron prefilter and carbon block, DI, pressure gauge, flush kit, and John Guest quick disconnects. I also got a TDS tester, this helps determine when the membrane and the DI cartridge needs changing. Just so happens the system comes with the JG connects, flush kit, and 1 micron cartridges. I would have settled for 5 microns, no flush kit, and regular connects. Some say a flush kit is a must but I think it depends on ones water quality, the JG connects are a plus, but the pressure gauge is a must IMO. Here are the main "brands".

Is it more the distance or the fact that you are in Canada that makes the shipping expensive? Would it help if you ordered through a place closer? Jason at
www.premiumaquatics.com carries a few systems and he is in Indiana, USA. If you were not confused before, you sure will be now.
