Hi all

I posted last week with a question about raising my calcium levels. Due to everyone's help I think the problem is due to the fact that my magnesium is too low - around 900PPM.

I have a Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium but it seems to take a lot of this stuff to do anything so am wondering what other products people have successfully used to increase magnesium.

I have used Kents liquid Tech M to raise and maintain magnesium at around 1400 ppm. After initially addding 6 or 8 capfuls to boost the level, I now only have to add a couple of capfuls every couple of weeks.

This is the first and only product I have used for this purpose, so there may be better, cheaper, ways to do this ???

Later!

If you're running a calcium reactor, simply add some dolomite (no more then a few grams) to the reactor. Search the old Aquarium Frontiers archives, there's a mention in one of Dr Bingman's articles.

i tried seachems first and it too took a ton to bring it to natural levels. i then tried kents liquid magnesium and it did the job with a lot less product... i too was having a hard time managing my ca and alk. i was at 800 mg. after slowly adding mg to natural levels my ca and alk where rock solid again...

A few years ago folks were recommending use of epsom salts for raising Magnesium levels. Anyone go that route? Seems it would be cheaper than the other additives.
