About a week ago, I bought a dwarf fuzzy lionfish. He is very small (about the size of a nickle). I noticed yesterday that he was changing colors. About an hour later, his back was completely white. He had lost all of his stripes. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem? Any information would be helpful. The people at the LFS said that they have never heard of a lionfish loosing its colors. I fed him this morning and he got all of his color back, but he has lost them again. Please help me.

most fish lose their colors every day I think its a protection thing at night my purple tang turns almost white.

sometimes when they are stressed they will go through color changes. when my rabbit fish gets stressed he turns from bright yellow to a mottled brown

I have a stars and stripes puffer that will lay on my tabletop coral and turn almost completely white. I read that this is a defense mechanism that they use to camflauge themselves from being eaten at night while they lay around. My cow fish does the same thing except he hides in a dark spot and turn almost all dark brown. He is a longhorn cow. Normally he is bright yellow. Hope this helps.
