As some of you may know, I'm a great fan of surge devices. While planning my 6 gallon nano, I couldn't think of any easy way to plumb a surge device to it :D , so I have to go with 2 PHs and an extra wavemaker. I hear Rios are terrible on wavemakers...what's a good brand?? The best choice would be one with threads for PVC and in the 100 gph range.

Maxijet's are the best choice, they dont click when starting, the impellers are a little bit soft, and it helps keep the clicking to a minimum.

However, they are not threaded for fittings

A product you may find of interest is the SCWD device, don't remember offhand where I got mine, do a search for it. It is a relatively new product, and I have had great success with it, as I have plumbed it into my 20 gallon tank, you may be able to find a use for it in yours as well. It basically is a rotating return device that alternates from side to side, using water pressure for the motion. It's rather small also, but still may be a bit too large for your nano. Just thought I would suggest it, works well for me. Joey

Joey- How long have you had yours? Most these type devices seem to quit rotating after a certain period of use and need to be cleaned weekly to keep them functioning.

Ditto. Pieces of junk IMHO. I picked up a wavemaker for $50, and this way I can mount them outside of the tank. There just isn't enough room in a 6 gallon tank for a rotating powerhead.
