Hallooooo
Has anyone had any experiences with these shrimp? I am thinking about getting one, but would like to know how people like them. Any successes getting them to eat frozen urchin at all? I can easily get stars and urchins for them but would prefer to feed them frozen stuff if at all possible.

Thanks
Ghost

Got any extra starfish hanging around that you don't want? Can you regularly get/afford Linkias or other stars to feed them? I have heard of people who live near the ocean harvesting stars to feed their shrimp, but you may face aclimation issues with those stars. I've never read or heard anywhere about the possiblity of using frozen urchins, though I have searched for options on these shrimp quite a bit.

Good luck,

Ken

They ONLY eat sea stars. I am not sure if they will eat frozen seastars but you could try it. Easiest is to have a tank with Linkia then cut off an arm every now and then to feed to the shrimp, the seastar will then regrow the arm.

Aloha!

My friend Chuck has a mated pair that spawn regularly. He buys Linkia stars bulk online and keeps them in the sump/refugium. He puts one in the main tank about once a month. They drag it into the back and eat it slowly. He has tried frozen chocolate ones also but they like the live ones much better and they are less messy. I believe he may be a member here if not he is on RC and Reefland as MtnDewMan if you want more information.

Regards,
Kevin

I've had one before, they're cool animals.Ounce every 4 to 6 weeks I would get a chocolate chip starfish, put it in the tank near them and they would get on it and start consuming it.They usually would start on the feet so the star couldn't escape. Then they slowly pic at one leg at a time.A medium to small size star last around 4-6 weeks then I would have to get another.Mine wouldn't touch anything but a LIVE star,so I doubt you could use froozen food.Chocolate stars are the cheapest and I could usually get them at LFS.The stars cost about 8 to 12$.Mine lasted about a year then disappeared never to be seen again. They never seem to go for my brittle of serpent stars just the knobby back kind of star.I hear people use Linkia Stars, but they cost more and I've never tried one.

Hallooooooo
I can get stars anytime from the LFS I work at so not too big a deal there, but would like to see if they would take frozen urchin or starfish. We've got it in the store now and its been munching on a chocolate chip star that got put with it for about a week now.
Not a pair unfortunately, just a nice single one.
Will be at least a few more weeks until I am ready to bring it home at any rate.
Thanks again
