I've been looking around for a glass shop that will drill 2x 2 3/8 bulkheads in my tank. I contacted Huntington Beach Glass but they are closed till the 2nd...Anyone around here know of anyone else that will come to my house and drill?

I was tempted to try it myself, but so far I haven't been able to find a 2 3/8 diamond tip bit.

I was thinking maybe you could use one of the suction cup devices that sucks onto the glass and you turn the rod around the suction cup to cut the glass...but I haven't had any luck finding one.

Jason, try calling Fish 2000 in Tustin 714-838-1862
or
Jeff's exotic Fish in Gardena 310-817-1176

and ask if they know of any place that will do the glass work.

Smart ass....I've called a few and they won't come to my house and drill...some have also said "We won't take responsibility if it breaks"...so I was looking for someone who has used a particular shop!

I don't think that *anyone* will take responsibility.
And I've had recommended shops mess up as often as others.
So, take your pick and pray :)

So far I keep getting "Is the tank put together"...and if it is we can't do it. LeoR could you give me some names of places you have used?

I called my LSF and they said that 25% crack while drilling. And since I want to have two holes drilled, I think I may persue the box overflow way.

Yuck...My old Box Overflow drove me NUTS! The tubs always get algae in them clogging them up.

The holes I want drilled are for a closed loop. I would be really upset if my brand new 190g tank was cracked...I'm really pissed at myself for not having the builder drill the holes for me. Argh!!!!

Why drill holes for a closed loop? I agree it will look a little better but its not needed. The only difference will be 6" of PVC in the tank. Like already stated, your taking a big chance having somebody come to your house to do it. Nobody will cover the cost if the tank cracks.

Call Murray, he drilled his tank...You do know Murray, right?

E-mail me and I can give you his phone number.

Yeah I know Murray....His holes were smaller then mine...My problem is finding the darn drill bit (2 3/8 for 1 1/2 bulkheads). I guess I'm not as daring as Murray! He said it was easy too…I’m just a big woos! Maybe I will shoot me an email.

-Did they mean that 25% crack when they drill them?

I guess the tank is so damn big that it makes the holes look small...now that I think of it, I remember him caring around the huge durso standpipes....
