LFS has a Juvi. Chevron in about the size of a half dollar piece. Is this too small or just the right size? He looks good and has been there a week. Also what price ????
Chevron tangs are beautiful when small, but go through a color change as they reach about 3" in size. Their adult coloration is pretty subdued. Chevrons are not cheap, and run $80-$100 around here.
Yup, what Mike said. Just to add one comment: they're fine when they're that small, granted nothing can eat them in the tank. Make sure overflow covers are meshed, as they'll easily fit through tiny slots (mine did).
One other note, they can get quite large (and agressive), although their growth rate seems to slow down after they reach about 6". So don't even think about it unless you have a decent size tank.
A 75 should be fine. The color change is pretty dramatic (which is why alomost every photo you see of a chevron is of a juvenile). As an adult, they are generally dark brown/black with dark, closely spaced orange lines. From a distance, they tend to look like one solid color (dark brownish).
