OK. I have been having a bout with ich and Have taken my 2 black percs out of my 50 gal reef tank and have them in a q tank with copper. My purple tang is still in the tank but with regular feedings of garlic has lost all signs of infection. Im also treating the reef with Prevent-Ich (Garlic). My question is how long should i wait before puting the fish back into the reef? The clowns have lost all signs of sickness also. QT time is at 2 1/2weeks. Any help will be appreciated.

ick's cycle can last a month so i would wait another 2 weeks just to be safe if they show no signs and are feeding well at that point you will probably be fine.

Since you haven't really broken the ick cycle (leaving the tang in), probably could put the clowns back now.

If all fish were removed you should wait a month.

they could heck your other fish might get it. i would wait untill the full cycle has passed. why take the chance of putting the diease back into the tank if the tang is fine after the month.

Will the cycle be broken even if the tang is still in the tank? I know that the tang has no external signs, but can the ich still be present in the water even after the quarentine?

You might as well put the clowns in now. The lifecycle isn't going to be broken unless all the obligate hosts are removed and that hasn't happened.

If you want to break the lifecycle, you're going to have to remove all hosts.

Chances are ick is alway present.

Keep the stress down, keep feeding with garlic and the fish can normally fight it themselves. Wouldn't hurt to add a neon goby or cleaner shimp
