My 40g breeder with juvinile clowns maxed out during the day at 82.4 and I expect to reach a bit higher in the coming days... What is the max temp before I start loosing livestock... FO with only clowns... Going to set-up fans tonight...

Don't worry my brudda...82.4 is where a lot of folks prefer their reef tanks at. I wouldn't go any higher than 85 though.

Are the clowns larval, or just young fully developed clownfish?

If they are larval, Frank Hoffs systems maxed out at about 83 degrees. I don't know if you would want to go much hotter for larvae as the increased metabolic rate would cause some problems.

If they are just young clownfish, then temps as high as 90 degrees would be fine. Clownfish will spawn up to 88 degrees, so you would have nothing to worry about in this case.

My temp has also read 82 for the last couple weeks. (around 80 in winter months). It's a room temperature thing. Everyone in the tank is happy so I'm leaving it. 2 more degrees and out come the fans.
