Does your Royal Gramma dig? When introduced he immediately dug a small hole under one rock and didn't venture very far from it. Three weeks after introducing him to the tank he started to expand his area. He has also become much braver. I assume it's him digging, it's his side of the tank, all other fish have been in the tank for over two years. Haven't seen him do it during the day and I've been home.

At first it was kind of funny seeing a small pile of sand in the morning. Now (three days later) the entire corner of my 108 is dug up. I'm afraid he'll topple the rockwork. I laid all my LR on the sand because I had no digging type fish at the time.

I will try to catch him in the act this evening as I'm sure this must be kicking up quite a big sandstorm. I'm hoping he will re-arrange the sand to his liking and eventually stop?

Thanks.

I have a royal gramma, and he has never dug into the sand. He does like to hide out in small holes in the rock, though. He also likes to open his mouth to intimidate the other fish. He never hurts them, though. He's a cool fish!

Maybe he is fighting his reflection. I have a yellow tang that does that from time to time. It darts back and forth with it's reflection. This creates turbulence that "digs" a hole in the sand.

I have a strawberry pseudochromis that dug a hole. He also moves shells and large peices of sand around that he doesn't like near his "home".
