I used southdown sand and the tank has been up for almost a year now with the sand bed. Because of the current in the water the water at times seems cloudy with small sand particles floating around, is this normal? and can you get rid of it?

I would think by cutting back on the flow a little bit would settle
things down. Just a thought off the top of my head. Other people
here have much more exp. than me though!

Do you have anything that digs in the sand ie gobies,etc...? After a year it seems it should be settled unless something is stirring it. Also do you have powerheads and if you do are they placed where at times they may kick up a little sand?

I use a powerhead in my tank, it does kick up sand, but not to the extent it clouds my tank, and not even gobies should cloud up the water that bad....Check the filtration..Sand stirring is pretty normal in a tank with powerheads, its actually encouraged to stir the sand (ie sand sifting star, gobies, powerhead) for oxygenation....

I have to oceanrunner 3500 in each corner of the tank with 1/2 pvc pipe with 2 openings. I dont' remember what the GPH rating is, but it's very small particles it's blowing around.
