The highest rock in my tank has an anemone on it and i have a hammer that does better towards the light. If the hammer fully extrnds and do does the anemone they might touch depending on the water movement. Is it ok to put these two so close to each other?

I have an LTA and a sebae that sting nothing. Won't even kill my mushrooms for me.

I had to remove a BTA tho, it was harsh.

I don't think I've ever had a hammer/torch/frogspawn or similar coral close to any of them tho. :?

I can't speak about anemones (still waiting to find a cloned rose BTA) but euphyllia species are notorious stingers. I personally wouldn't risk them too close to anything except other euphyllia species. Their sweeper tentacles are especially active at night and can be VERY long.

speak to rob over at eastcoastclams.com went to a frag meet and he had soem very large ones in his viewing tank he wouldn't sell cause he was waiting for all of them to split. Talk to him and see if you can get first dibs on when they split. I have a pic of this one next to my hammer.

I agree with save the expos. The reverse could be true. Your Euphilia could sting the anemone. I had to move an sps last week because a tentacle of my ancora extended 6" 8O and was clearly in attack mode. First time I have ever seen this behaviour. It prompted me to get my camera fixed.

Well its a long tentacle anemone, I found that out. But it seems to be leaning away from my hammer lol, I thought it would be the other way around, and my hammer is fully extended, my anemone is sitting up straight instead of flattening tiself out and widening its dia.

A LTA i think stings..and ive never owned Euphyllia(hammer) (( i think thats it?) and from what i read from everyone else the hammer will sting also, so maybe the LTA is smart...I have a bulb anemone which stays pretty sessile, although it has been next to my corals and nothing, that i know of has ever happened.??? So like i said, maybe its wise to be vigilant of the two....

Update, the anemone moved to a corner of my tank and dug itself into the sand so it is away from the hammer now.
